Hella Introduces ParkMaster® - Giving You Room to Move

December 2003 - Hella has launched ParkMaster® - the world's most intelligent Sensor Reversing Aid System to provide motorists with a maximum of control, comfort and safety during low speed maneuvers in reverse motion.

Damage caused during reversing in and out of parking spaces can be extremely expensive, even if incurred at low speed. ParkMaster® is a reversing aid system utilising state-of-the-art ultrasonic sensors to detect and warn of any visible or obscured obstacle situated behind the car, effectively reducing the risk of reversing into parked vehicles or moving objects outside the driver's line of vision.

ParkMaster® activates when engaging the reverse gear generating an electronic safety shield which reaches as far as 2 metres behind the car.

The protection system incorporates 4 miniaturised bumper mounted sensors transmitting ultrasonic pulses as you reverse, a compact control unit processing the feedback signals and an audible beeper emitting acoustic signals whenever a moving or stationary object is located within its detection range.

The distance of the ultrasonic echo source and rear of the car is calculated continuously and signalled by the beeper frequency. The closer the obstacle, the faster the acoustic signals become until a constant beep is emitted when entering the maximum alert zone at 30cm to assist the driver in taking corrective actions.
